About the Song

Worship the King! is an arrangement of the traditional hymn O Worship the King. The music begins with an exuberant invitation for all listeners to “Come, let us worship the King!” All four verses of the hymn are included in the arrangement, and if the church congregation knows this hymn, verses one, two, and four may be sung by everyone without any rehearsal. In this way, the children can provide active worship leadership for the entire congregation while also having certain parts of the arrangement that are uniquely their own expression. The final “Amens” put a dramatic exclamation point on the arrangement.

To add creative flexibility to the arrangement, optional string parts and other performance and learning resources are included. The arrangement also offers the option for some adult voices to join and support the children’s voices, if desired. This option provides an opportunity to model intergenerational worship leadership.
