About the Song
How Can We Thank You? is a modern worship song with band accompaniment: guitar, bass, and drums. Adapted by composer Simeon Sham from Revelation 4:11, the music lists many of God’s attributes in each of the two verses, speaking directly to God. In wonder and amazement at who God is, each chorus – still singing to God – asks, “How can we thank You for who You are?” followed by our response, “Jesus, we praise You with thankful hearts. Alleluia, holy, holy.”
This lilting song provides a simple yet profound expression of our worship in response to the incomparable attributes of God. It may be possible to teach this song to a group of children or even a congregation, so all may join in reciting God’s attributes and asking God together how we can thank Him for who He is.
